This past week, we ran through my favorite portion of the Identity Series!
We talked about how Christ sees us, what His word says to us and the truth that builds us up!
Many teens hear several lies about who they are and begin to attach their identity to what it is they've been told about themselves. Many teens turn to suicide, cutting and other such outward signs to reflect the inner turmoil.
Sadly a HUGE chunk of the inner turmoil can be produced by the words of other people and they listen to those lies while not knowing what God thinks and feels about them!
This reality breaks my heart. Students who have lived a mere 12 years already hate themselves and look at the world with synical eyes. However, Jesus says they are not who they've been told they are!
These teens have little to no reality that Christ made them and loves them. Even teens growing up in the church have an "idea" but don't yet have the tools to deny the lies said of them.
In this week, we learned that we are all created in the Image of God (Gen. 1:27), We are God's POEM (Eph. 2:10) and We are NOT and accident (Jer. 29:11). God who writes our poem desires us to be of the family of God, accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior!
Like I said, this is my favorite talk to do on Identity! Below is the link to the PowerPoint and talk as well as the talk recorded. Hope all this stuff helps!
